Laser Tattoo Removal - Page 1

Page 1 - Page 2

Tattoos are a life long decision. So, you really want to make sure that it is what you want, and you will want it forever. Picking what to get tattooed and where to put the tattoo are very important. I highly recommend getting tattooed after the age of 18, even better yet, after the age of 20. I just think that you are thinking more of the future and not what you want only in the moment and you are able to make better decision. I speak from experience. I have four tattoos and I really only wish I had two of those four. The one that I absolutely hate is an Italian good luck charm that I got when I was 17 years old. I hate it and wish I never got it done. I have always wanted to get rid of it. I am in the process of trying to do just that. It is hard to figure out how to remove tattoos and is a long, painful and expensive process. In this article I will talk about getting my tattoo lasered off. You should know that I have not completely gotten rid of the tattoo. I thought I would use lasering to finish but it became too expensive and it was talking too long. I am currently trying a cream to remove it. Once that process is done, I will write about my experience and you can decide the way to go for yourself. I should tell you that the tattoo that I have is blue in color, it is dark on the bottom and fades as it goes up. It is small, 1 ½ inches long and less than ½ inch wide.

The most important thing you can do before you get a tattoo lasered off is to research the place that you are going. I went to a dermatologist office, and I would never go anywhere else. This is serious stuff; you do not just look it up in the phone book and go to the first place you see. I would never let anyone other than a doctor come at me with a laser. This can cause permanent damage and scarring if done wrong. You really need to be careful here. I work in the medical field and I chose to go to a doctor that I work with. I felt very comfortable. I highly recommend going to a dermatologist, regular family practice doctors will not know what they are doing. Dermatologists deal with this stuff everyday. They are lasering all kinds of thing off of people, not all doctors do that sort of thing. I would first start out by finding a good doctor you feel comfortable with and make a consult appointment. You should know what you are getting into before you sign up for it. Lasering is a commitment, and I broke mine. They should talk to you about the process, give you an estimated time, and cost per session. For me, since it is blue in color, he said it could take longer. The hardest color to get out is green and the easiest is black. I have blue, but he said it is hard to know how the tattoo artist got that color; did he mix green in it to get that color? Who knows, so you have to understand that it could take longer than expected. The doctor though it would take 7-10 sessions to remove it. They were going to charge me $150 per session. That is a lot of money, but I was desperate to have it removed. He did say that he had to charge me a minimum of $150. Where I went, they did not have the laser head to remove tattoos, they rent one, so there was a minimum charge so that they would make money. I DO NOT recommend going to a place like this. When I would want to go and have a session they would not do it, they had to have so many people before they would rent the laser head, or they end up loosing money. Of course, they do not tell me this before I started. I was mad, because it takes a long time to get a tattoo lasered off. We are talking a year, two years, more. You can have a session once every three months. So, when it was time to make and appointment and they can’t accommodate me, I figured screw this, it will take a decade to finish this with them. You want to make sure where ever you decide to go, that they can laser you when ever you want. Plus, if you go somewhere where they do this often, you probability will not get charged a minimum, and if you have a small tattoo you will get charged what is fair. I felt that they should have charged me less, my tattoo is tiny.

Once you have a place you should know that this will take awhile to finish removing your tattoo. Like I said above, it can take years. You should get lasered once every three months, or whatever the doctor recommends. You do not want to go sooner than that, your body needs to heal. If it has a chance to heal the process will work better. When you get a tattoo lasered off of your skin, the laser is going down and breaking up the pigment. You skin will scab and heal and your tattoo will become less noticeable and start fading. I had two sessions before I decided to quit. It is very expensive and it takes a toll on your wallet. In two sessions I did notice the color breaking up. After it healed it looked like spotty almost, there wasn’t solid color anymore. I think it would work well, but maybe after ten sessions, and that is $1,500.00. My tattoo is small and I cannot imagine what they charge for bigger tattoos. It would cost a small fortune to remove some of the tattoos I have seen.
