Shaving Bikini Area
|
|
The bikini area is a difficult area
to shave. It is a difficult area to do anything
with. The area is so sensitive. It is easy to get
ingrown hairs, redness, bumps, and irritation. I do
not shave this area every day. I do not think you
can, unless you want razor burn. Usually I shave 2-3
times a week only. I would say this is the worst
area on the whole body to rid of hair. I have never
met anyone who can shave their bikini area everyday.
If you do and you can, email me and let me know how
it is possible. If I am going out in my swimsuit and
I shaved the previous day, I will shave again, but
very gently and lightly; a quick sweep with the
razor. Be carefully though! Sometimes, I will not
shave again at all, it isn’t worth the irritation.

| To start shaving, wet the area.
If you use warm or hot water it will loose the hair
and soften it up, getting you a closer shave. If you
can, wash your body first. This allows the area to
be exposed to the warm water longer. Also, use your
loofah or washcloth and gently rub this area. It
will loosen the hair more, and might loosen up
ingrown hairs. Next, put shaving cream in your hand
and lather, apply to the area. Again, you want to
shave in the opposite direction the hair is growing.
Start by shaving up. This area, like the armpits,
will have hair growing in all directions. So, shave
in all directions; side to side, at angles, and
down. Move the razor in all directions to get the
best shave. Do not apply a lot of pressure on the
razor, this will cause you to bleed, and give you
worse irritation. Apply medium pressure. Remember to
shave the sides of your bikini area, this will show
up when you are wearing a swimsuit. Rinse the razor
often, a clean razor will work better. |

| There are some products that are
supposed to help with ingrown hairs and razor burn.
I have used them, and they help a little. Not enough
where I am still using them, or swear by them. It
can be hard to find these products too, so it isn’t
worth the hassle to track down where to buy them.
One product was called Bikini Zone. I got it at
Target. The next time I went to buy it, they did not
have any. If you find this product you can try it. I
did like it. Not something I want to put in every
time after I shave though. I try harder and harder
everyday to cut my time getting ready down. It
seemed to help, not to the point of being a miracle
product. I have figured out a couple things to do to
cut down on ingrown hairs and bumps that I will
often do. I use products that I already have in the
bathroom. After shaving, and drying off, I will
apply astringent (the same kind I use on my face) to
the area. It might sting a little, but not bad at
all. Be careful when applying, you do not want to
accidentally get this in certain areas. Then, I will
put on Aloe Vera Gel on the area once the astringent
had dried. This is inexpensive and should be in your
first aid kit anyways. This is cooling and helps
with the healing of any razor burn. I will use it
for sure if I can tell I am going to get razor burn.
Another thing you can try is to apply Clearasil acne
cream to the area. This does help keep the area bump
free, and if you get ingrown hairs sometimes they
can produce like little zits. This really helps with
those little pests. Clearasil is only like $5 at
Target or Wal-Mart. If you have it, try it. Always
be careful when applying anything to this area.
