Shaving Legs

Legs are next on the list. Bumps and irritation are rare in this are. One of the few areas on the body you do not have to worry so much about. You do have to watch out for nicks and cuts though. Here is a tip: do not shave dry legs. I learned from experience that this is very bad. I was on vacation and the shower water was freezing and I figured if I shaved outside the shower I would not get razor burn. Boy was I wrong; it was the worst case in my life. It was bad. It stung and hurt for days. Another thing to watch for is if you are cold in the shower, you will have goose bumps and shaving while having goose bumps will give you razor burn. Just some tips. Other than that the razor burn is rare.

Shaving this area is going to be much like the others. You want to start with wetting the skin. Put your shaving cream/gel in your hands and lather, apply to legs. You are still going to shave in the opposite direction that the hair is growing. Start down at your ankles and go up with the razor. It is going to be easier to shave your legs if you have a spot to put your foot up on in the shower. It takes pressure off your legs and makes it easier to shave. Remember to rinse the razor often. Do watch when using new razors too, it seems to be easier to cut yourself. If the razor is too dull, you might not get a really close shave.

You have to watch for nicks and cuts. Common areas for nicks and cuts are ankles, knees, and the front of your lower leg, the really bony part. Areas that are bony and have less skin you need to watch out for. The ankles are bad so go slow and be careful! Let me tell you if you do get a cut in any of these areas it is normal for there to be a lot of blood. It depends on how bad the cut, but I have bled through band-aids in less than five minutes. If you do cut yourself, get a band-aid on it right away. Check on it every now and then, because like I said I have bled through them before, and you do not want to get blood stains on your clothes. This should stop the bleeding by the end of the day, sometimes if it is a bad cut, you will need to continue to use band-aids for maybe about a week. I once cut myself in the front of my lower leg, on the bony part, and I literally had to pull the chuck of skin out of the razor. It was pretty bad. If it is bad like that using Neosporin or hydrocortisone cream will help heal it faster, and possibly lessen the scar.
