Sunless Tanner Spray Tans
|
The
new thing is sunless tanning is the spray tans. You
can get this done at some of the tanning salons. I
have done this and I have things that I liked about
it, and things I did not like. I used to work at a
tanning salon so I have a lot of experience with
them. Usually people either love them or hate them.
There are different brands. I used the Mystic Tan.
The pro to using something like this is that it is
UV-free. UV is the ultraviolet rays in the sun or
tanning beds that are harmful and give you the bad
effects of the sun. So, using this will keep your
skin and health safe. That is what I love about the
Mystic Tan. It is also really quick. In about sixty
seconds you are done. The Mystic Tan gives you a
spray-on tan that is touch free and goes on evenly.
Plus, the mess stays in the room, and it is not in
your house. So that is really nice. Also, another
thing that I do like is that there are different
levels. So, if you have fair skin you will go with a
level one or two. If you are tanner or have darker
skin you can go to a higher level. They can
customize it for you and your skin. They (at the
salon) should help you pick what level you should
use. We did at the salon I worked at. If they do not
help you I would go somewhere else. It is hard for
you as the customer to know what level to pick. I
would go with what they recommend, you do not want
to go too high and look ridiculous. |

When
you use the Mystic you will get instructions from
one of the employees. Listen and do what they tell
you! This will give you the best tan. You will take
off your clothes, and put on a shower cap over your
hair. This protects your hair. You do not want to
forget this step. If you do, I would run to the
bathroom and rinse the color out, it could mess up
your hair color and that would not be good. You can
use goggles for your eyes, but you do not have to.
Usually they do not put these in the room, only if
asked by a customer. I never used them. Then, there
is a lotion/cream that is in the room for your hands
and feet. You DO want to use this, and liberally.
This will keep your hands and feet from getting the
“orange” look. If you do not do this the color will
latch onto the cracks in your hands and feet and you
will have orange extremities. When I would put this
on, I would put a crap load on. Sometimes if you
just put a little layer on you will still get the
orange effect. You should glob it on thick. I would
honestly put big globs around my cuticles and in
between my fingers. Do the same for your feet and
don’t forget the ankles. Then you step into the
booth. |

So, once you are in you stand
straight ahead, and push a green button. It will
then spray you from top to bottom, and then stop.
Here you want to turn around and it will spray your
back. The first time I used it I kind of jerked when
it sprayed my face and I choked a little on the
spray. When it sprays you try to hold your breath as
it sprays your face so you do not do this. Then you
can breathe. Step out when the machine stops
spraying. Remove the shower cap, grab the big towel,
and dry yourself to a tanned goddess. I know people
were always confused that you would get sprayed and
then rub it all off. This really is what you do
though. You rub it into your skin. Make sure to dry
all areas, or you can get chunks of color where you
missed. That is it, you are done. You can get
dressed right after and leave. Your color will
really start to show in about 5 hours and will last
a couple of days.
When using the spray tanning you do have to think
about a couple of things. It is like using sunless
tanning products at home, you want to make sure you
do not sweat after for awhile. Give it a couple of
hours at least. Go as long as you can, you do not
have to worry about it after 5 hours. You also want
to be careful going out in the rain, and you do not
want to shower. This will remove some of the color,
or worse, make you streaky. Just be aware of that.
They say that it last for days after, but that
depends on the person. Some will last for awhile and
other will notice the color fading sooner. One thing
I do not like about this is the price. For one
session it is $30. Most places will have coupons, so
I would look for those. Otherwise it will get
expensive. The other thing I did not like, is that
it clogged my pores. I have big pores, I think, and
once it clogged them, I broke out a little. This is
why I never did it again. It is worth a try though;
especially if it ends up working out for you. It is
quicker and easier to use than doing sunless tanning
yourself at home. |
