Waxing Upper Lip

Waxing the upper lip is next. Everyone has a little or a lot of hair there. It depends on the thickness and color if it is going to noticeable or not. If it is not noticeable I would leave it be. The reason why I say this is because once you start messing with it you will be stuck messing with it. Mine was never noticeable, and I went to see my friend at the salon she worked at. She was bored and was like, “Let’s wax your upper lip”. I thought okay, I never thought of that before. So, I let her. The problem is I never noticed it before, and after she waxed it, I noticed it. I could tell when it grew back. Other people couldn’t but I could tell, and that is the worst. It got to be a pain, going in and getting it waxed. Finally, I just left it and have been fine. I never want to do it again because then I will get stuck doing it. Most people are lucky and just have the “peach fuzz”, this is what I have. I do recommend getting it waxed if the hair is darker and more noticeable. Or, if it just bother you that much. It is a quick and easy way to get rid of it, and it is inexpensive. It will depend on where you go but it will run you $10-$15 and up.

You need to watch where you go. Like any waxing, you want to make sure you go to a salon. A clean and well kept salon that has all of their employees licensed in the state you are in. They should be hanging on the wall or sitting on the counter which the person works at. It is hard to get a feel if the person knows what they are doing. Hopefully you can figure it out before they start. You might find out too late. My friend, who obviously, I trust, screwed up one of my wax jobs. She didn’t realize the wax was low in the warming pot, so it was sitting there boiling and too hot to be used, but she put it on me. I didn’t realize anything was wrong until after the wax. What had happened is the wax was too hot and burned my skin. So, how embarrassing, it is right out there on my face for everyone to see. And, who wants people to know you wax your mustache? It scabbed over and looked horrible. I just told everyone that I was drinking hot cocoa and took a big gulp and it burned my upper lip and I spilled it everywhere. I know people probability knew I was full of crap but what do I care? I would and have trusted her to do it again, and the salon was nice. It just was a mistake. You have to be prepared for those. That is another reason why, if you can, leave the stash alone. The skin is sensitive, so everything can be done right and you might have red marks from irritation or burns. Of all the options out there, if it bothered me that much, I would still get it waxed. It is the least expensive and will last for about a month. How long it lasts will depend on you and how fast the hair grows, also how long you can go before it bothers you. If I had the money, I would laser.

When you sit in the chair, they will first clean the area with a liquid cleaner. They just wipe a wet cotton ball across the upper lip. Then they will apply the wax and the cloth on top of it, and pull it off. It will be done in 1-4 sections. After, they will apply some type of after cream/gel/powder to the lip. This will stop the irritation and help with redness and bumps. It only takes about 5 minutes. You do not want to tan before or after getting waxed. If you tan before you are making your skin more sensitive and will likely get burned or irritated. After will make the area red and possibly cause you to burn as well, because the skin is more sensitive. Also, be careful washing your face after. Try not to get soap on it. This can cause it to give you a burning sensation. If it happens, rinse with cool water. Stay away from hot or warm water, it doesn’t feel good. Do not put astringents, zit creams, or lotions on the area. This will only irritate it, making it worse, and give you a burning sensation. If you do get burned try to leave it alone. This is the best thing to do, I have found out through experience. If you put anything on it try aloe vera gel. This will burn right away but that feeling will go away shortly after. Do plan on the skin being red after for about an hour. This is normal. Keep that in mind when making plans after. You don’t want to go shopping and have everyone staring at you.
