Washing Your Face - Face Care
Tips
|
Washing your face is very important.
You should do this twice a day, morning and night.
If you will only wash once a day, do it at night.
You need to get all the crud off your face. At least
rinse it in the morning. Give yourself a clean
slate. You do not want to wash your face more than
twice a day, unless instructed by a dermatologist.
Your face has a protective layer of natural oils. I
know that sounds bad, like a breading surface for
zits, but it isn’t. This layer protects you from
damage to your face. It helps keep to keep out dirt,
bacteria. It also helps protect from sun and wind
damage. Believe me, I have tried to get rid of this
layer, and succeeded, only to have my face break out
more! If you ever notice when your skin is dry you
will still break out. It does not make sense. You
would think dry skin will have less break outs
because the oil is not there. Skin needs a certain
balance for it to stay clear. You want to maintain
that balance, and how you take care of your skin
will determine on what skin type you have. Using the
right technique, products, and listening to your
skin will give you your best face! |

The first step to washing your
face is to wash your hands first! Always. The last
thing you need to do is transfer the crud and germs
on your hands to your face. It really defeats the
purpose. Then you want to wet your face with warm
water. You want to use warm water as opposed to hot
or cold. Warm water will open the pores for good,
deep cleaning. It is the best way to remove bacteria
and dirt. Hot water will dry out your skin, and
irritate it. You do want to keep some natural oils
on your face. Hot water will strip the natural oil
right off. Cool water will not clean as well as
warm. Cool water actually will shrink the pores, and
it will not allow you to clean out the dirt and
bacteria.
Next, you want to put your face soap onto your
hands, add water, and lather. Rub onto your face.
Some products will very on directions, depending on
what type you use. For example, some do not require
you to add water to the soap. You might just put the
product directly onto your face. Read the directions
on the back of the product first.
You should wash your face for at least a minute
every time. I had an esthetician tell me this once.
I actually have a clock in my bathroom and watch the
seconds go by to make sure I am washing long enough.
I never used to do this. Once I started, I really
did notice my face was clearer. Washing for at least
a minute allows you to get the dirt, grime, and
make-up off. Not only do you have make-up on your
face, but throughout the day your face collects
dirt. Dirt, germs, pollution, you name it. I really
did not notice this until I took a trip to
California. The pollution is so bad; it looks like
there is a storm cloud over the city. It is just
dirty air and pollution. When I washed my face at
night the water was so dirty, it was actually brown.
I had to wash my face five times! I am not even
lying. It was so gross. If you are living in an area
like California you should maybe up your washing
time to five minutes! The cleaner your face is, the
cleaner your pores, and the clearer your skin is. |

Think about this-if you did not
wash your face for a week. Think of all that grime,
build-up, dirt, and dead skin. Yuck! Your face would
be greasy, dull, and life less. You need to start
taking care of your skin at a young age so that it
still looks good as you get older. Anyone who has
good skin at an older age has taken care of it. Ask
them. Genetics will play a role, but the more you
take care of your skin the better it will look, in
the short and long run. Plus, if there are things
you want to avoid that your mother or grandmother
has, you can. Start early to prevent it. Washing
your face twice a day, every day, is the first and
most important step. It might take awhile to find
products you like, or that work for you. Be patient.
It has taken me a long time, but it is work it now
to have good looking skin. I will give you tips and
products that I like, love, and hate. Why I feel
that way, and where you can find them and about how
much to expect it to cost. If there are some out
there you love or hate, let me know and I will share
the info with everyone. I am always up for trying
new products, and I think you should be too. It is
good to mix it up once in awhile, keep you skin on
its toes. Sometimes I think my skin gets used to a
product and it stops working. That is a perfect time
to switch it up. If something works and keep
working, do not change it. No use changing a good
thing. Keep in mind, you might have to change
products or you’re routine, depending on where you
live. The weather and season changes do make a
difference to your skin. |
