Eye Shadow How To

Eye shadow is the best way to define your “look”. You can do anything you want, as much as you want or as little as you want. Be careful though, you want it to look good and compliment the rest of the make up on your face. Mostly, you want to really watch that it goes with and compliments your lips. The lips and eyes are the places on your face where you can use color. You do not want bright purple eyes and fire engine red lips; that would look gross, so you see what I mean. You do not want to look tacky. My rule of thumb is to play up one or the other. If you are using a lot of color on the eyes keep the lips simple or nude. Want to try red lips? Tone down your eye shadow and use more neutral colors. There are a lot of different techniques to apply eye shadow, I will go over them, also giving you tips. Products are key- I will go over good ones and what to look for. Also, how and what you apply the product on will make a difference.

I do not think that quality is the biggest factor when using eye shadow. It still affects some things. The more expensive products will go on easier and they will be easier to use. Cheap products will not glide onto the eyes, they may crumble apart, and not last the longest. I like cheap products though because you can play with colors. It is an easy way to try whatever is “in” at the time. It also is a good way to figure out the best look and colors for you.

Eye shadow can change your look, literally. I have dark brown eyes. When I wear darker shadows it makes my eyes a deep rich brown. When I wear purple shadows it brings out the yellow or gold tones of my eyes. Light shadows will open the eyes up, appearing bigger. Just changing the color of your eye make up can make your eyes appear to change colors a little as well. It just enhances certain colors in your eyes. I know people say that you should wear certain colors depending on what color of eyes you have, but I do not necessarily agree with that.
