Acne - Medical Terms
|
| Acne is caused by clogged pores
on the face and or body that become inflamed or
infected. The pores get clogged from dead skin cells
and oil. This cuts off the oxygen supply and festers
into a zit. Open pores allow oxygen, which is bad
for bacteria; when you have open pores you will have
clear skin. Once you get acne prone skin to open and
allow the oxygen, the healing can start. Acne can
happen at any age. A lot is seen in teenagers, but
you can also get acne at any age. Hormones, stress,
and not enough rest can worsen acne. Acne consists
of: whiteheads, blackheads, and pustules. |

| Treatment can vary by person and
the severity of your acne. You can start by trying
over the counter medications, if these do not help
go to your doctor, or a dermatologist. They can
prescribe a medication for you that will be stronger
than over the counter medications. You are going to
want to start a system to battle acne. You need more
than just medication, you need to start by gently
cleansing and exfoliating you face to reduce the oil
and to unclog your pores. Look for products that
have benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid in them.
These ingredients will get rid of the bacteria that
causes acne. The dermatologist can give you a
variety of methods to choose from. It will include
creams, gels, antibiotics, soaps, lotions, or oral
pills. |
