Acne is caused by clogged pores on the face and or body that become inflamed or infected. The pores get clogged from dead skin cells and oil. This cuts off the oxygen supply and festers into a zit. Open pores allow oxygen, which is bad for bacteria; when you have open pores you will have clear skin. Once you get acne prone skin to open and allow the oxygen, the healing can start. Acne can happen at any age. A lot is seen in teenagers, but you can also get acne at any age. Hormones, stress, and not enough rest can worsen acne. Acne consists of: whiteheads, blackheads, and pustules.
